I2c support?

Avatar
Hi!

Is there I2c support yet for the basic stack? If so, how can I enable this?

Hi,

Our chips (SX127x, SX126x) are not using I2C, so I am not sure to understand your question about I2C for BasicMAC ?

Hi!

Not for the radio modules but when using the Basic stack with custom hardware (which have sensors who use I2c for communication).

Kind regards,

Hi Andres,

There is no I2C driver, you have to write your own.
That said, as written in the following page :
LoRa Basics™ MAC is scheduled to be deprecated within the year.
Semtech recommends that people designing new LoRa®-based solutions use LoRaMAC-Node instead.

This is news to me...

So you are telling me the basicmac (and basicmac-tap) will be deprecated in the near future? What happened?
Avatar
Yes, basicmac and basicmac-tap will be deprecated

Could you provide a reason as to why?

In the past weeks I have had continuous contact with Semtech and was involved in the TAP program for this stack (last contact was just a few days ago!). The focus was heavily on improvement and not once it was mentioned that it could become deprecated. So this is kind of out of nowhere for me and my team. We have invested time and effort on this from our side, so I would like to know why.
